FAQ

Got Questions?

During the tractor tour guests are driven through enclosed ostrich breeding camps. They meet and feed various ostriches up close, learn about each bird’s biology and history, and see eggs and young chicks. The knowledgeable guide explains differences between the farm’s “Black,” “Red,” “Blue” and rare “White” ostriches.
The tractor tour lasts about an hour. Booking ahead is recommended but not always required; visitors often report being able to join tours by signing up on-site if space is available. It’s a good idea to check the farm’s schedule or call ahead during busy seasons.
Yes, the farm is very family-friendly. Children of all ages can join the tour and even purchase feed to hand-feed the ostriches. Young kids especially tend to love the interaction. There is no strict minimum age, though toddlers should be supervised.
No, rides on the ostriches themselves are not provided. Instead, the farm’s signature experience is the guided tractor ride through the ostrich pens. After the tour, visitors may have the chance to stand next to the birds or feed them, but actual ostrich riding is not part of the program.
In addition to the tours, Safari Ostrich Farm has a restaurant (serving local fare and a special curry menu), a café/coffee shop, and a gift shop. There’s also ample parking. Many guests combine the ostrich tour with a meal or snack before moving on to nearby attractions in Oudtshoorn.
